Our Story
My husband and I left Spain chasing a dream, to build a new life in EE.UU and create something meaningful far from everything we knew. Texas became our home, a place full of possibility and new beginnings. For a moment, it felt like all our dreams were aligning. We were starting a family. Hope filled our hearts like never before. But life had other plans. We has a miscarriage. The grief was overwhelming, and being thousands of miles from our families made the weight even heavier to carry. In the midst of that hardtime, I found my way back to the kitchen. I began baking tartas vascas - the traditional Basque cheesecakes of my homeland. With every creation, I rediscovered my strength, my passion, and my purpose. That's how Torito Bakery was born. The bull, is more than just a symbol. In Spain, it represents strength, courage, nobility, and passion. In the Bible, it symbolizes power, an indomitable spirit, wealth, and sacrifice. This is why the bull stands at the heart of our brand, it carries the message that anyone can rise and move forward through sacrifice, passion, and courage. It is our Spanish soul, proudly planted in Texas. Every cheesecake I bake is an act of love, proof that from our deepest struggles, something beautiful can emerge. Baked with love, Maria.
